Freehand Machine Embroidery

Oh my gosh I can't believe the last time I posted was in October. They say time flies when you are having fun, and I am proof.

In October I stopped painting to sew for a grandson who was born the week of Thanksgiving. I put the embroidery programs on my sewing machine through the paces. I hadn't really used the embroidery module much before this. It was fascinating enough to spur me on to make some small embroidered Christmas gifts.

It didn't take me long to tire of watching my sewing machine make some interesting but predictable stuff. And I was sort of missing painting.

From there we go to where my creative time is being spent at the moment. I have been painting on silk and then free hand embroidering over the top of the painting.

Not being sure what to do with these little guys (they measure 4" x 6" or so) I put them on hand or tea towels. I enjoy finding the fabrics to "frame" them in.

Here are a couple more.

So life around my house is good good good!

After checking my mail, I went to my blog and found a new posting of yours. So my next stop was your blog. All I can say is WOW! I absolutely love the embroidery, and what you have done with it. You are truly multi-talented.

That's an interesting process, sewing over a painting. I like the results, maybe too much; I'd be loath to use the towel as a towel! Maybe frame and hang it? ;-)
